Our principals and investment professionals bring together a rare and diverse mix of experience in real estate and hospitality development and operations, corporate finance and asset management, among other backgrounds. With a successful track record of investing in and managing companies spanning multiple industries including real estate, food and beverage, entertainment, retail and healthcare, we’re able to draw on our knowledge and intuition built from a multitude of learning experiences.
Our team is composed of entrepreneurial individuals who have lived and worked across various cultures and parts of the world, including the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, Middle East and Asia.
Eric Berman is the Managing Partner of Vivant Capital. Prior to the formation of Vivant Capital, Eric was a Partner and the Chief Investment Officer of Lifeafar Capital, where he led the structuring of two hotel private equity funds in Puerto Rico, both of which are now under the leadership and management of Vivant Capital.
Eric has spent his career working with a diverse base of investors, owners, lenders and developers of hotel and mixed-use real estate assets. He has advised on more than $2 billion of hotel real estate transactions throughout the U.S. and Latin America. He joined Lifeafar Capital in 2018 from Berkeley Research Group, where he helped pioneer the firm’s hospitality advisory group and expand its corporate finance efforts in Latin America. He began his career at Deloitte & Touche, LLP.
During his professional career, he has lived and held positions in New York, Miami, Colombia, Panama, and Mexico, and currently resides in Puerto Rico. Eric holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Pennsylvania State University. He has been a licensed CPA since 2013 (inactive 2022) and holds a certificate in hotel real estate investment and asset management from Cornell University.
Eric Berman
David began his career as a practicing attorney, spending over 20 years in corporate litigation, estate planning and real estate. David is a licensed real estate broker and experienced investor. He is the owner and President of The Midgett Law Firm, a private-client law firm focused on real estate and asset protection planning, as well as artist representation in the entertainment and music industry.
In 2006, David founded Elder Planning Income Concepts which has been a premier provider of turn-key income producing real estate for elder law attorneys, currently managing over 850 properties. EPIC has assisted over 1000 clients with acquiring, leasing and managing income-producing real estate. Additionally, David manages multiple real estate investment funds and early-stage venture investments, and is the owner of Touchstone Realty, a Florida licensed real estate brokerage.
Originally from Miami, David received his BSBA and JD from the University of Florida and a master’s in music business from Berklee College of Music. David and his wife Lisa support arts and education through their private foundation, serve on a variety of boards focused on the arts in Marion County, and own an art gallery and record label in the historic Coca Cola Bottling building at NoMa.
David Midgett
Mike is the Managing Partner of Southern Proper Hospitality Group (SPHG), an Atlanta, GA based group that operates throughout the Southeastern US, Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico. SPHG is made up of multi-unit restaurant and bar concepts, currently with 23 store units, including 2 boutique hotels.
In addition to SPHG, Mike is also Chairman and CEO at LifeTek Biologics, a medical device company that he founded in 2002. LifeTek is an international manufacturer of orthopedic and neurosurgical implants, headquartered in Mexico City, Mexico, with distribution networks of surgical products and customers located around the world, including Europe, Asia and Central and South America.
Mike is married with four children.

Mike Evertsen
Ankita Jain is a Senior Associate at Vivant Capital. In addition to seeking out and underwriting new project opportunities as part of the acquisitions and development team, she also plays a supporting role in design development and construction management. Ankita arrived at Vivant Capital by way of her role with Lifeafar Capital in Puerto Rico, which began in 2019. Prior to that, Ankita worked as a financial analyst and community development consultant in New York City, consulting on public-private developments.
Ankita began her professional career as an architect in Dubai, specializing in mixed-use development and hospitality. A highlight of her early career was the consultation she did on a master plan for a 2,700-acre mixed-use design project, which boosted her professional journey to work with global companies such as Marriott, Emaar, and Related Group.
Born in India and raised in Dubai, Ankita specializes in emerging markets with experience in India, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and the U.S. She received a master’s degree in Real Estate Finance and Development from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Kamla Vidyalay in India. She also holds a LEEDS Green Associate certificate.
